What is NewAccess?

NewAccess is a free service developed by beyondblue that provides support in the form of a specially trained coach.

Over six private sessions, your coach will help you set practical and effective goals, giving you the skills to manage the pressures in your life so that you can get back to feeling your best.

Strong Mind, Strong Spirit Program - Toowoomba and Warwick

What is the Strong Mind, Strong Spirit Program?

The Strong Mind, Strong Spirit program is a culturally appropriate support program designed to reach out to those with or at risk of mental illness, their family and community. The program is facilitated by Aboriginal Mental Health Workers and is delivered in a group setting with one-on-one counselling offered if required.

There are at least two group sessions per week in both Toowoomba and Warwick including a women’s and men’s group.

New Sensations Workshops - Ipswich and Toowoomba

Delivered by Richmond Fellowship Queensland

What is New Sensations?

‘New Sensations’ is a one-day workshop followed by a one-hour individual therapy session.

The workshop will introduce you to Sensory Modulation and the individual session will tailor strategies to your individual needs. Recommendations from the program will be shared with Support Facilitators and carers to assist you to implement and maintain sensory strategies in your day to day life.

Sensory Modulation can be described simply as improving the way you feel or function by using your senses. Sensory Modulation can help people to self-regulate when facing challenging moods, emotions, thoughts and feelings, especially when talking or thinking may be difficult. It can also support people to perform important day to day activities or tasks. Sensory items will be provided to explore in the group and some small items will be provided to take home.

What is the Resilience and Health Group Program?

The Resilience and Health Group Program is a six-week program designed for people having difficulty managing stress and at risk of, or suffering low levels, of depression and anxiety.

This program focuses on lifestyle factors that impact mental health such as sleep, diet and exercise. Information and support for participants in the program is provided by a physiotherapist, dietician and psychologist.

What is the Optimal Health Program?

The Optimal Health Program is an eight-session self-development program promoting hope, growth and partnership.

By the end of this program you will have covered:

  • Strategies to optimise and maintain mental health and wellbeing
  • An understanding of stress, vulnerability, strengths and strategies
  • The identification of collaborative partners and support network
  • A plan to maintain mental health, manage stress and periods of illness
  • Tools to manage effective change.

What are TOMNET's Support Services for Men over 50?

TOMNET (The Older Mens Network) offers specialised support services and peer programs for men over 50, especially those at risk. TOMNET offer up to twelve face-to-face or telephone sessions to help men manage anxiety and depression.

The service aims to support men at risk plan a positive and meaningful retirement, facilitate engagement with community and health services, and positive ageing education.
