Digital Health Update - September

The opt-out period has been extended

Health Minister Greg Hunt has announced that the opt-out period has been extended until 15 November 2018. This will ensure all Australians have an opportunity to make an informed decision as the government strengthens the 2012 My Health Record legislation.

Emergency Access to My Health Record

A new factsheet is available to provide guidance for healthcare providers regarding appropriate and lawful use of the Emergency Access provision.

The factsheet can be accessed via the My Health Record website.

How to use My Health Record - video series  

A short 8 part video series of 'How to use My Health Record' is now available on the My Health Record YouTube Channel

Briefing for State Organisations and Stakeholders

The Agency is holding these briefings to continue to raise awareness of the My Health Record in the community and support consumer peaks and community organisations in each state and territory. This is an opportunity for questions to be answered about My Health Record - the benefits, how it works, the privacy and security of the system and records. This invitation is also extended to your members and consumer groups if they would like to attend. Please forward this invite. The briefing will cover the following topics:

  • My Health Record overview
  • Changes in legislation to provide further privacy protections
  • How to manage your record (using privacy controls)
  • How we can help you to communicate to your networks/members
  • How can people opt out if they choose

Engaging with our community

Our digital health team have been on the road again meeting and greeting with communities to discuss the benefits of My Health Record. In their travels, the team stopped by USQ Health and Wellbeing Expo, RACGP My Health Record Training and the ME/CFS/FM Support Association - Toowoomba Support Group to meet with members and discuss the benefits of My Health Record.
