August 17, 2018

The Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN is proudly funding Lifeline's Creative Coping Program.

About The Program

The Creative Coping Program is a 20 week skills building program designed to assist people to cope with overwhelming thoughts and emotions, reduce suffering, and make changes towards a valued life.

The skills taught in this program are extremely useful for people who may experience:

  • Emotional reactivity
  • Steady negative emotional states
  • Deficits in positive emotions
  • Unstable relationships
  • Fear of abandonment
  • High amounts of interpersonal conflict
  • Impulsive behaviors
  • Suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviour
  • Engagement in high risk behavior
  • Black and white thinking

Creative Coping is based on the skills component of the evidence based Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) program.

The skills discussed in the program have been shown to be effective, if they are used and practiced regularly. It is important to incorporate them into daily life, in everyday situations, as well as when in difficulty.
