National Action Plan to Reduce Sepsis released

September 06, 2018

The Australian Sepsis Network and The George Institute for Global Health have launched a national action plan to reduce the Australian burden of sepsis by increasing public and healthcare worker awareness, establishing a nationally recognised clinical standard of care for sepsis detection and treatment, and improving support for sepsis survivors.

Although sepsis can strike at any age, there are various groups who are at higher risk including: small children and babies, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. The action plan is coordinated to measure and reduce the personal, financial and societal burden of death and disability arising from sepsis.
