National Cancer Screening Programs Report released

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has released a report analysing cancer outcomes and screening behaviour for national cancer screening programs in Australia. 

The report combines data from the: 

  • National Bowel Cancer Screening Program; 
  • BreastScreen Australia; and 
  • National Cervical Screening Program.

The report includes insights into: 

  • the benefits of screening;
  • the role of screening history on cancer outcomes;
  • the survival of women with screen detected versus non screen detected cervical cancer;
  • the effect of the HPV vaccine on participation in the cervical screening program; and
  • the demographics of who screens and what can Influence participation.
