Following the recent expansion of membership, the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN has opened up a number of non-executive positions on the governing Board.
The primary role of the PHN is to commission health care service delivery, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes within the Darling Downs and West Moreton regions.
Funded by the Australian Government Department of Health as part of national health reforms, the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN was formed under a joint venture between the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service and GP Connections in 2015 and is operated as an independent non-government, private entity.
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN Chairman, Mr John Minz said, “We have recently opened up membership of the organisation to primary health care providers throughout the Darling Downs and West Moreton Communities in a bid to further improve health care service delivery across the region.
“Now we are putting out the call to skilled individuals, who have a demonstrated interest in primary health care and health care reform, to join our board. We have a lot of important work to do to ensure that everyone who lives in our region, especially marginalised or vulnerable groups, have equitable access to responsive, integrated, and high-quality primary health services.”
In addition to the Board of Directors, the Governance Framework Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN includes Clinical Councils, Community Advisory Committees and Mental Health/Alcohol and Other Drugs Sub-Committees for both Darling Downs and West Moreton Regions, along with an Antimicrobial Taskforce for the Darling Downs region. Board meetings are held monthly, with additional strategic and sub-committee meetings held throughout the year. The board positions are remunerated.
