PHN proud supporters of TSBE's Women in Health series

September 18, 2018

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise have partnered with the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN to host a new series of events to bring women from the healthcare sector together, for networking, career progression and support.

After its inception 8 months ago as a TSBE initiative, TSBE Health was developed to grow the capability and capacity of our health industry in the region.

TSBE Health General Manager, Jaden Frame, said there are numerous events coming up over the next 12 months, and we’re excited to be bringing this new series of events to the region regularly to help bring together women in health.

Monday night’s pilot event featured the topic of ‘Jobs in 2050’, and delivered presentations on understanding what the health workforce will be like with the current emerging innovation and technology.

We heard from some of the most influential women in Toowoomba’s health sector, Kathryn McKeefry, CEO of St Vincent’s Toowoomba Hospital, Merrilyn Strohfeldt, CEO of Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN and Shirley-Anne Gardiner, Executive Director of Toowoomba Hospital.

TSBE CEO, Ali Davenport said it was great to bring three such speakers together in one room, and after discussion from the night we plan to keep a focus on a mentoring/coaching initiative and further discuss some action points around that.

“We plan to host this event as a quarterly series, continuing in 2019,” Ms Davenport said.
