Accredited mental health social workers available
May 27, 2020
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) are registered Medicare providers that can work with GPs to improve patient outcomes. AMHSWs specialise in mental health and work with people across their lifespan (including children, adults and older persons) and provide a unique contribution to the mental health space in their comprehensive approach to working with a person.
COVID-19 is deeply affecting the health and wellbeing of Australian individuals, families and communities. The impacts are deep and are felt at a physical, psychological and social level. Health services across Australia are seeing an increase in the need for mental health supports, due to the development of new conditions, the worsening of existing ones and the impact on other health conditions and comorbidities.
The advanced education and training that is expected of an AMHSW prepares and provides them with the skills for working with people with very complex presentations and comorbidities, including how COVID 19 may be impacting existing conditions.
AMHSWs can you help you treat a patient’s underlying mental health and social issues to better support a GP practice. Find out more about their skills, experience and qualifications.
