All aboard the final VaxBus

In May, the Autumn VaxBus completed its tour across the Darling Downs and West Moreton region. Over the two-week trip, the VaxBus visited 17 locations and administered 630 vaccinations.

Funded by the Australian Government and delivered by Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN and Oceana Immunisation, the bus delivered COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines for children aged 5-11, Pfizer Bivalent for adults, and flu vaccine, all for free with a Medicare card.

Immunisation plays an important role in ensuring the future health of our community.

Increasing access and coordination of care is a key priority for PHN in improving the health of people in our region, particularly in remote and rural communities.

Over the past couple of years, the VaxBus program has been a very successful tool in breaking down barriers for people who may otherwise find it challenging to reach a permanent vaccination provider and has provided us with some key insights into how we may be able to support more accessible healthcare across the region.
