Award winners: TALK ABOUT

The IAP2 Australasia Core Values Awards build awareness, contribute to the practice and recognise excellence in public participation and community engagement.

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN were thrilled to be announced as 2023 Core Values Awards winners, taking home the “Highly Commended” award for Health at the IAP2 Australasia 2023 Conference for our TALK ABOUT campaign.

The award was given “in recognition of excellence in the field of public participation, demonstrated through the development and implementation of an outstanding project.”

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN would also like to acknowledge our partners Health Consumers Queensland and the ongoing contributions of their team to the success of our TALK ABOUT campaigns through their facilitation of kitchen table discussions and yarning circles in the community.

TALK ABOUT is an opportunity for the PHN to ask our community about their experiences with health care in our region.

The most recent TALK ABOUT topic was Young People and Their Health. From 26 July to 6 September 2023, we reached out to community members and health professionals to provide their feedback on what is working well and what could be done better.

We received responses from over 160 community members, including 96 young people.

All consultation findings from our online survey and Kitchen Table Discussions will be distributed to external key stakeholders and inform future Primary Health Network decision making, targeted service delivery of programs and provide important updated information for our region’s Health Needs Assessment.
