Counting down to Red Ant Round-up 2023!

January 31, 2023

Red Ant Round-up is back this year, focused on the all-important topic of mental health and wellbeing.

The biennial conference will be held in Kingaroy on Saturday, 11 March 2023, and will include a full day of workshops and speakers, followed by a Gala Dinner with special guest speaker, renowned Australian journalist Rick Morton.

Red Ant Round-up has been run by the PHN since 2015 and is regarded as a leading rural health conference focused on meeting the needs of regional primary care professionals. The conference’s name pays homage to the Aboriginal Wakka Wakka word ‘Kingaroori’ — meaning ‘red ant’ — from which Kingaroy's name is derived.

This year’s topic of Mental Health and Wellbeing is timely following the pandemic and natural disasters which have impacted rural communities and increased pressure on primary care. The conference will allow professionals to develop knowledge, get inspired, and grow their professional network.

Health professionals from across Australia including GPs, a wide range of medical and healthcare professionals, medical students, practice staff, medical educators and service providers are all invited to attend.

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO Lucille Chalmers said the Red Ant Round-up is designed to meet the needs of rural health professionals.

“It’s common for health professionals living and working in rural areas to either miss out or have to travel to attend face-to-face education and networking events held in metropolitan areas,”

“The PHN is proud to deliver the Red Ant Round-up in Kingaroy, creating an opportunity to engage in high-quality face-to-face education and networking,” said Ms Chalmers.

The PHN is also hosting a series of Meet and Greets across the region. The South Burnett Meet and Greet is scheduled for the evening prior on 10 March 2023 for health professionals who are either local or visiting the area for the Red Ant Round-up.
