NEW - Push for vaccination of pregnant women
Queensland Health’s peak clinical bodies have today released a joint statement strongly encouraging vaccination during all stages of pregnancy. It follows cases of pregnant women in New South Wales being seriously affected by the Delta outbreak with instances of both mother and baby suffering severe adverse outcomes (such as pre-term labour). This statement will be uploaded along with other updates to the vaccine website for healthcare workers shortly.
The prevalence of pregnant women affected by Delta is so concerning today’s New South Wales press conference (15:09) featured Dr Bhagwanani, Obstetrician and Birthing Unit Director at Liverpool Hospital who urged vaccination of all pregnant women where possible and outlined some of the adverse events seen in pregnant women with COVID-19.
COVID-19 Vaccine Roll-out - EOI
Please be advised that the Expression of Interest (EOI) for General Practices to participate in the COVID-19 Vaccine roll-out remains open. The Australian Government continues to review vaccine availability and may extend participation of general practices to the COVID-19 vaccination program. To be eligible, practices must meet the site requirements and:
- hold a current and valid accreditation through the National General Practice Accreditation Scheme, or
- administer vaccines as part of the National Immunisation Program.
General practices interested in participating in the program should contact their PCLO or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The Commonwealth Department of Health, in anticipation of a further increase in supply of Pfizer, is gathering data on which practices would like to increase their weekly allocation of Pfizer above the current allocation of 600 or 900 doses per fortnight. If you have not done so already, and would like to increase your fortnightly allocation please complete the survey so that your interest can be registered with the Commowealth Department of Health.

Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service is hosting a live Q&A on Zoom for GPs and Practice Nurses on the COVID-19 vaccines and children aged 12 and above.

Request For Tender (RFT) published for additional vaccine administratorsThe Department of Health has advised that the Vaccine Administration Partners Program Request for Tender (RFT) has been published on AusTender along with FAQs and other supporting documents.
The Program will establish a panel of accredited COVID-19 vaccination providers that can be accessed by government entities, businesses and other organisations to support vaccination priorities. This includes additional support to vaccinate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other priority groups.
Applications open immediately, with an initial closure date for the first stage of Friday 24 September. However, businesses are able to continue to apply to join the panel until the end of 2021.
