December 18, 2020

Public Health Advice - Queensland

A NSW resident was tested in Brisbane on 17 December with a positive result received last night. The case is connected to the Northern Beaches cluster. Advice from the Queensland Chief Health Officer today is as follows:

  • Anyone on flight VA925 arriving into Brisbane Airport at 9.30 am on 16 December, if they develop symptoms, should immediately get themselves tested. Contact tracing for passengers in rows in front, behind and either side of the positive case is already underway.
  • Anyone who visited The Glen Hotel in Eight Mile Plains after 11.30 am on the 16 December, if they develop symptoms, should immediately get themselves tested. Contact tracing is already underway for close contacts of the positive case.
  • Contact tracing is also underway on the Sunshine Coast however no broad contact is believed to have occurred there.

Dr Young has asked that anyone in Queensland who has any symptoms that could be related to COVID-19 should come forward to get tested.

Because of the rapidly escalating cluster in New South Wales, the CHO has declared the Local Government Areas of Sydney’s Northern Beaches as a hotspot. This means:

  • Anyone who was in the Northern Beaches region on or since Friday 11 December 2020 and is already in Queensland should get tested and quarantine in their home or accommodation for 14 days from the date they left the area.
  • Anyone who was in the Northern Beaches region on or since Friday 11 December 2020 and arrives in Queensland on a flight from Sydney after midnight on Thursday 17 December must get tested and quarantine in their home or accommodation for 14 days from the date they left the area.
  • Anyone who was in the Northern Beaches region on or since Friday 11 December 2020 and arrives in Queensland on a flight from Sydney after 1 am Saturday 19 December 2020 must go into hotel quarantine at their own expense for 14 days.
