COVID-19: GP Alert (25 January 2021)
January 25, 2021
URGENT - COVID-19 testing required for recent arrivals from New Zealand
- New Zealand recently identified a case of community-acquired COVID-19 (confirmed by genomic testing as the South Africa Strain). The individual had visited at least 30 locations throughout New Zealand while considered infectious.
- In response, the Federal Government this afternoon suspended quarantine-free travel from New Zealand for the next 72 hours. The implication is that all passengers on flights from New Zealand will go into hotel quarantine.
- Everyone who has been in New Zealand since 14 January are being asked to come forward and be tested for COVID-19. They are being asked to remain in isolation until their test result is known and negative.
Please update your triage questions accordingly.
