AMENDMENT - Public Health Alert no.15
Public Health Alert no.15 has been updated as per the below:
- further clarification regarding “testing of anyone who presents to a fever clinic/pop-up clinic requesting a test, where feasible, as this contributes to our current surveillance strategy”; and
- addition of People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin to the groups who should be actively encouraged to seek testing.
UPDATED – Symptoms of COVID-19
The Queensland Government’s list of common COVID-19 symptoms has been updated to include loss of taste and/or loss of smell (now 7 symptoms in total). The full list of symptoms includes a fever temperature higher than 37.5 degrees), a cough, sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of taste and loss of smell.

Please note that the COVID-19 CDNA National Guidelines for Public Health Units (COVID-19 SoNG) v3.5 has just been published.
Endorsed changes in this iteration include:
- Inclusion of a section on routine prevention activities (pgs 8,9)
- Inclusion of a sub-section on Procedure for assessing indeterminate and suspected false positive SARSCoV-2 PCR results (pgs 14–16).

Quit HQ–more support available In response to COVID-19
To support people to quit smoking during the pandemic period, all Queensland residents have access to a program that offers quit support with a free 12-week supply of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products of either gum, patches or lozenges. NRT products deliver small amounts of nicotine to the body, which reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings when quitting smoking. A mini Quit HQ marketing campaign has recently been in market to promote the offer through social media and radio, running from 12 July to 25 July. People can access the program by visiting Quit HQ or calling Quitline on 13 7848.
