COVID-19: GP Alert (28 June 2021)

UPDATED - Personal Protective Equipment requirements

As of 27 June 2021, the following Local Government Areas (LGAs) have been determined by the Chief Health Officer to be in the “moderate” risk category.

  • Sunshine Coast Region
  • City of Brisbane
  • City of Ipswich
  • Logan City
  • Moreton Bay Region
  • Redland City
  • Gold Coast City
  • Scenic Rim Region

All other LGAs remain in the ‘low’ risk category.

All health and care settings are to escalate use of PPE, including:

  • Hospitals
  • Residential Aged Care Facilities
  • Residential Disability Care Facilities
  • Prison Health Services
  • Youth detention health services
  • Community health care settings (including general practice, dentistry and home care settings)
  • Queensland Health Vaccination Clinics

In addition to these specific settings, clinicians and non-clinical personnel who live or work in the affected areas who also work in other facilities or areas outside the escalated LGAs should follow the requirement for escalated PPE.

The PPE escalation will remain in place until notification that it has been rescinded by the Chief Health Officer. PPE escalation guidance documents can be found online.

Asymptomatic testing in Queensland GP respiratory clinics

The Commonwealth has agreed to all Queensland GP respiratory clinics conducting targeted asymptomatic testing on patients self-presenting for COVID-testing who have been directed by jurisdictional public health authorities to get tested. This approval is in place until Friday 9 July 2021 and will be reviewed before this date.

UPDATED - Contact tracing sites

Please be aware that new locations have been added to the Queensland contact tracing website, including a petrol station in Warwick. Please regularly check the contact tracing locations, remain vigilant and follow the directions if you or a patient have attended one of the sites of concern.

NEW - Masks mandatory in South East Queensland from 1am Tuesday, 29 June 2021

From 1am Tuesday, 29 June 2021:

  • Masks must be worn in indoor spaces where you can’t physically distance. You must carry a face mask with you at all times whenever you leave your home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

This restriction is in place for the following local government areas (LGAs) and for people who have visited these LGAs:

  • Noosa
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Ipswich
  • Logan
  • Redlands
  • Moreton Bay
  • Brisbane
  • Gold Coast
  • Scenic Rim
  • Lockyer Valley
  • Somerset

This increased restrictions will be reviewed on Tuesday 13 July, 2021.
