COVID-19: GP Alert (7 April 2020)

April 07, 2020

Expanded testing - Brisbane/Gold Coast/Cairns - 6 April 2020

Please Note: at this time testing criteria in the Darling Downs and West Moreton region remains unchanged.

As of 6 April, Queensland has 32 cases of COVID-19 unable to be linked with travel or contact with a confirmed case. Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said these cases were spread evenly across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Cairns.

Testing for COVID-19 in these three centres will now be expanded to help determine any levels of community transmission. Anyone presenting to a GP or fever clinic in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Cairns with respiratory symptoms indicative of COVID-19, will now be tested.

Testing may be expanded in other centres depending on the number of COVID-19 cases unable to be linked with travel or contact with a confirmed case. Further information will be available in due course.
