Digital Health November Update 2019
November 05, 2019
MY HEALTH RECORD
New nurses web page
The new nursing web page on the My Health Record website went live on 11 October 2019.
Nurses play a key role in providing vital health services every day and represent 57% of the total Australian healthcare workforce (AHPRA). Making sure nursing staff can quickly gain an understanding of a patient’s health history can assist in the treatment of chronic and complex medical conditions.
Help practices get ready for pathology report uploads
Australian Clinical Labs, Capital Pathology, Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology, Hobart Pathology, Launceston Pathology and North West Pathology can send pathology reports to My Health Record when they receive an eOrder from practice software. Participation by doctors with eOrdering will improve data quality with pathology laboratories.
Medical practices looking to get ready for their patient pathology reports going to My Health Record should:
1. Be using either - Best Practice - Lava SP3 and later, or Medical Director - 3.17.2 and later.
2. Connect with My Health Record system if not already participating. Some pathology labs need the patients’ Individual Health Identifier (IHI) from their practice software to be able to upload pathology reports to My Health Record. Doctors will need to have e-orders enabled for this to apply. Contact the lab if eOrders need to be enabled in their PMS.
3. Contact the lab to initiate uploading of pathology reports to the My Health Record system for their patients.

ELECTRONIC PRESCRIBING V2.0
Changes to Commonwealth legislation from 31 October 2019 now recognise an electronic prescription as a legal form authorising medicines supply. The technical framework to support the implementation of electronic prescribing has been released.
This updates the preliminary technical framework documentation first distributed on 24 September 2019 (provided as drafts to software providers to give initial early access to the technical framework).
This information includes the Solution Architecture, Conformance Assessment Scheme and Conformance Profile documents and is intended to support software providers to implement electronic prescribing.
Electronic prescribing provides an option for prescribers and their patients to have an electronic prescription as an alternative to a paper prescription.
