Digital Health Update - January

January 23, 2019

My Health Record

In 2019 all Australians will have a My Health Record unless they decide they don’t want one. Anyone with a Medicare or DVA card that doesn’t want a record has the opportunity to register their choice by visiting MyHealthRecord.gov.au or calling 1800 723 471 by 31 January 2019. The primary care engagement team will continue providing support and education to health care providers across the region. Contact us for more information and to schedule a training and education session.

Some community engagement activities will continue across the region until 31 January 2019.

Did you know that Queensland Health is now uploading pathology and diagnostic reports to My Health Record

The majority of Queensland Health facilities across the region is now sending approved pathology and diagnostic imaging tests to patients’ My Health Records, giving healthcare providers registered with the My Health Record system access to this information as soon as it is uploaded.

With an increase in Queensland Health documents being sent to the My Health Record system, GPs can expect to receive an increase in patient enquiries. Please contact your local PHN for further information.

Visit the Queensland Health website for more information on how they are using the My Health Record system.

Practice Incentives Program (PIP) eHealth – end of quarter incentive reminder

This incentive (also known as ePIP) is designed to encourage general practices to incorporate digital health into their everyday patient care. The program aims to help improve administration processes and holistic patient care. The PIP eHealth incentive consists of five (5) eligibility criteria. One of the requirements is to use the My Health Record system. This specifically relates to meeting and/or exceeding the required number of Shared Health Summaries uploaded to the My Health Record within each quarter. Required uploads are individual to each practice and are determined through the practice's Standardised Whole Patient Equivalent (SWPE) number. The current ePIP quarter will conclude at the end of January 2019.
