Electronic prescriptions provide effective alternative to paper

There are many benefits to patients in having an electronic version of their prescription and subsequent repeats. With 80% of the population now using a mobile phone, there is the convenience of carrying the prescription ‘in the phone’ and having it with you, wherever you go.

Across Australia more than 47 million eScripts have been generated and they are available as a token (QR code) or an Active Script List. Almost all pharmacies can dispense an eScript but it is important to check with the patient’s preferred pharmacy before generating an electronic prescription.
