Expression of Interest: GoShare for General Practice - Cancer Screening Campaign
January 13, 2021
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN is partnering with Healthily and Cancer Screening Queensland, to provide GPs with access to tools and content that supports the improvement of health literacy in our community using the GoShare platform.
GoShare is a content distribution platform which enables the sharing of health resources tailored to patients’ information needs through text message (SMS) or email. Learn more here.
Preliminary data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) found there was a significant reduction in breast screening and a decline in cervical screening in mid-2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and tightened restrictions. This campaign aims to catch up with potential missed screening opportunities by using a cancer screening information “bundle” encouraging patients to book an appointment.
A Cancer Institute NSW study found that 60% of patients were more likely to screen when reminded by their GP than when reminded by a registry only.
Utilising GoShare to promote preventative health qualifies as quality improvement and contributes towards your PIP QI Incentive payment requirements.
We are seeking forty (40) general practices who are interested in participating in the PHN’s GoShare Cancer Screening campaign which will give you access to the GoShare Plus platform at no cost for 12 months.
If accepted, GoShare will be enabled to link in with your PenCS CAT4 software and you will be provided with a cancer screening quality improvement toolkit including ‘patient filters’ to utilise GoShare Plus. Your practice will have access to a Topbar app identifying patients who are due for cancer screening.
The PHN will allocate SMS credits to your practice to help get you started. You will also have access to the full suite of health literacy materials within Go Share to support your patient’s health journey.
To provide patient/staff feedback on the usability of the platform and the perceived impact of the campaign. You acknowledge that de-identified data will be shared with the Cancer Screening Unit within Queensland Health. Your practice will not need to record any additional data. This information will be obtained from the data already shared with the PHN. Your practice and patients will not be identified to Queensland Health.
