Expression of Interest - GP Clinical Editor West Moreton HealthPathways

BACKGROUND:

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN in partnership with West Moreton Health and local GPs continue to develop HealthPathways. West Moreton HealthPathways is a local online portal assisting GPs and other health professionals with information about clinical assessment, management and clear referral pathways into local services. HealthPathways is actively being promoted as a tool for use during consultations.

The pathways are written by experienced, local GPs and are reviewed by medical specialists.

As part of the ongoing development of HealthPathways, the PHN is seeking expressions of interest from GPs in the West Moreton region who would like to become involved as a GP Clinical Editor.

PURPOSE OF GP CLINICAL EDITOR:

The purpose of the GP Clinical Editor is to:

  • identify, gather, edit, validate and maintain the clinical content published on West Moreton HealthPathways;
  • negotiate each pathway as a local consensus clinical agreement for their region; and
  • ensure that the HealthPathways website is useful to primary, secondary and tertiary care sectors.
  • work with the local HealthPathways programme team to develop and review pathways;
  • gather and check information about local practice for clinical presentations, including assessment, management and referral;
  • ensure pathways meet the information needs of the wider local health system, including the key target audience of general practice teams;
  • localise pathways efficiently by making only the changes necessary to reflect local best practice and information requirements;
  • meet with subject matter experts (e.g. medical specialists) and work with them when finalising and reviewing pathways;
  • collaborate with, seek review by and feedback from other stakeholders in the health system as necessary when developing pathways;
  • communicate effectively with technical writers at Streamliners (platform developers) online and via phone/email/other channels as necessary;
  • champion the expectations and standards required to make HealthPathways useful to primary care.
  • be an experienced, practicing local GP with FRACGP or FACRRM and current Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA registration;
  • be responsible for ensuring they have appropriate indemnity insurance in place;
  • have strong knowledge and/or experience of the health system in West Moreton region (e.g. GP based in the West Moreton region);
  • be able to successfully cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop pathways effectively;
  • have strong analytical skills with an ability to distil key information from complex and multiple sources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The GP Clinical Editor will:

  • work with the local HealthPathways programme team to develop and review pathways;
  • gather and check information about local practice for clinical presentations, including assessment, management and referral;
  • ensure pathways meet the information needs of the wider local health system, including the key target audience of general practice teams;
  • localise pathways efficiently by making only the changes necessary to reflect local best practice and information requirements;
  • meet with subject matter experts (e.g. medical specialists) and work with them when finalising and reviewing pathways;
  • collaborate with, seek review by and feedback from other stakeholders in the health system as necessary when developing pathways;
  • communicate effectively with technical writers at Streamliners (platform developers) online and via phone/email/other channels as necessary;
  • champion the expectations and standards required to make HealthPathways useful to primary care.

The GP Clinical Editor will:

LOCATION:

The GP Clinical Editor role is flexible with regards to workplace and can be performed from various locations provided you have access to a computer with internet connection and a phone (e.g. home, clinic).

GP Clinical Editors may be required to occasionally meet with other GP Clinical Editors and the Project Coordinator – either in person or virtually.

GP Clinical Editors may also be required to occasionally meet with specialists from West Moreton Health – either in person or virtually.

PAY:

$150.00 per hour, excluding GST (ABN required).

28 hours per month available.
