It’s time to ‘TALK ABOUT’ Care for Older Australians
April 28, 2022
The Darlings Downs and West Moreton PHN’s ‘Talk About’ campaign is seeking community members to share their experiences with health services that care for older Australians in our region.
Around 97,000 people aged 65+ years currently reside within the Darling Downs and West Moreton region. Having access to appropriate care and support is important for older Australians, as this number is expected to double by 2036.
Through a short confidential online survey, community members, carers and health professionals are encouraged to share their experiences. The online survey is open from Monday, 25 April 2022 to Sunday, 5 June 2022 by visiting
www.ddwmphn.com.au/talk-about.
PHN Chief Executive Officer Lucille Chalmers said the growing population of older Australians in our region needs to be confident they can access care when they need it.
“What we know is three out of four older Australians rate their personal health as good to excellent. This is due to their relationship with their local healthcare professional. The 'Talk About' campaign asks them to share their experiences so we can continue to meet their current and future needs,” said Ms Chalmers.
“The ‘Talk About’ campaign is important for the PHN as it provides community members and healthcare professionals an opportunity to influence our Health Needs Assessment (HNA). Adding this layer of information to our HNA helps to inform future plans that support Older Australians living in our region.”
The HNA identifies the health priorities and opportunities for our region by bringing together information from the community, local health services and workforce. It helps the PHN to develop a clear picture of how we can help improve the health of people living in our region.
The short confidential online survey is currently open and will close at midnight on Sunday, 5 June 2022. To complete the survey, visit www.ddwmphn.com.au/talk-about.
