October 22, 2019
Youth mental health support has received a boost in the region with the launch of CREW4YOUTH care coordination service for young people aged 0-25 with or at risk of severe mental health conditions.
The new service will work with children and young people, their families, schools, employers and other health practitioners to support them in managing their mental health.
CREW4YOUTH was officially launched was at Emerge Café in Toowoomba on Tuesday, 22 October 2019.
EACH’s Qld General Manager Angela Burdon says an innovative and collaborative approach is being taken with CREW4YOUTH.
“We all need someone to have our backs and that’s what we’ll be doing for young people in the communities we serve," Ms Burton said.
"We want to ensure that no young person falls through the cracks when it comes to their mental health, and we’ll be working towards that goal in partnership with other organisations in the region."
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO Merrilyn Strohfeldt said CREW4YOUTH was an important new service made available for children and young people in the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN region.
“Supporting the mental wellbeing of children and young people is an important priority for our PHN,” Ms Strohfeldt said.
“The CREW4YOUTH service is being delivered in tandem with a number of new and existing initiatives funded by our PHN to support the mental wellbeing of children and young people in our region and we are proud to partner with EACH to deliver this important service.”
The service will deliver a non-clinical, multi-pronged approach in the regions providing a combination of case management and training to both young people and families to better manage mental health conditions. There will also be a toolkit tailored to the young person, giving them access to support in a mix of online and face-to-face options.
CREW4YOUTH is federally funded by the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN and referrals to the program can be made by individuals, families or other organisations by phone or pathway referral.
