No-cost GP Psychiatry Support Line now available to Darling Downs and West Moreton GPs

June 22, 2021

The GP Psychiatry Support Line is a no-cost phone-in service available for GPs to help them manage the mental health care of their patients. The PHN will be funding this service for Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN GPs for a 12-month period commencing on 28 June 2021.

Through the service, psychiatrists support GPs with information and advice regarding specific cases or general enquiries Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

The service does not provide a triaging or referral service, rather it’s focus is on supporting GPs to manage their patients whose conditions can be treated within primary care.

Some of the things the psychiatrists may be able to provide guidance on include:

  • diagnosis
  • investigations
  • medication
  • safety plans

GPs across the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN will soon be contacted by the GP Psychiatry Line to organise registration to the service.

In the meantime, you can contact 1800 16 17 18 or visit for more information and to get registered.
