Rural education for health professionals coming to Dalby this weekend
November 13, 2019
The Dalby Harvest Medical Conference will be held in Dalby this weekend to provide education and training to rural health professionals from across the Darling Downs.
Hosted by Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN in partnership with TSBE, the Dalby Harvest Medical Conference is a one-day event focused on providing high quality education for local health professionals in their own backyard. The first of its kind for the Western Downs region, the conference has attracted international speakers and speakers from around Australia to share their in-depth knowledge on a variety of topics.
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO Merrilyn Strohfeldt said the PHN had been working diligently over the past 12 months to improve access to high quality education opportunities for rural health professionals in the region.
“One of the priorities for our PHN is ensuring that health professionals across our region have access to meaningful education and training opportunities that they don’t necessarily have to travel to a major city centre to participate,” Ms Strohfeldt said.
“The Dalby Harvest Medical Conference joins a number of other medical conferences hosted by our PHN in our region and we look forward to seeing it all unfold this weekend.”
Keynote speaker for the day is Hall of Fame speaker Amanda Gore, CEO of the Joy project. She has over 1.6 million YouTube views and a full portfolio of speaking at major companies like Google, Nike, McDonalds and TEDx.
Attendees at the conference will also hear from speakers on a number of topics including heart attack prevention, women’s health, palliative care, sleep apnoea and medicinal cannabis.
TSBE Health General Manager Jaden Frame said events like this strengthen the rural healthcare sector.
“Having a strong healthcare sector improves the livability of our regional towns and improves the economic outcomes of the regions. We are really excited to be a part of the inaugural Dalby Harvest Medical Conference and provide this important opportunity for local health professionals to hear from and engage with a variety of expert speakers, including international guest and keynote speaker Amanda Gore,” Mr Frame said.
The Dalby Harvest Medical Conference is on this Saturday, 16 November at the Dalby Leagues Club from 8:00am more information can be found by visiting https://dalby_medical_conference.eventbrite.com.au
