West Moreton Health update - November 2021
November 23, 2021
Local information at your fingertips
West Moreton Health has developed a new poster with QR codes and quick links to the most used referral and management pathway information. It aims to help GPs ensure that patients access the right care at the right time. The GP Point of Care poster promotes West Moreton Health’s Health Professionals page, Hospital in the Home, West Moreton HealthPathways and Grand Rounds Teams sessions to provide the most up-to-date information and contact points. The poster also provides referral fax lines and phone contacts for the Emergency Department SMO and Specialist Outpatient Department referral enquiries to provide timely advice to GPs and support patient care.Acute Inpatient Dialysis Unit
The new Acute Haemodialysis Unit opened in Ward 7B this month to provide inpatient dialysis at Ipswich Hospital. These two renal beds will enhance clinical safety and consumer comfort as they remove the need to transport inpatients to the unit beside Cribb House for dialysis. This is the first step in a planned expansion of the Acute Haemodialysis Unit in early 2022 as part of West Moreton Health’s master-planned Ipswich Hospital minor works program.
Oncology services at Ipswich Hospital
The Ipswich Hospital Oncology Day Unit provides specialised care to patients with oncological malignancies. The common diagnosis of patients treated in the Oncology Day Unit includes: breast cancer; head and neck cancer; lung cancer; colorectal and gastrointestinal cancer. The new Ipswich Hospital Oncology Day Unit opened in 2021 and has 10 chairs in operation Monday to Friday 8 am – 5.30 pm. The team includes specialist medical oncologists, medical registrars, resident medical officers, specialist pharmacists, nurses (including a Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Cancer Care Coordinators, clinical nurses and registered nurses), administration officers, social workers, psychologist, dietician and volunteers.
