Updated COVID clinic testing times

West Moreton Health’s COVID clinic testing hours have changed to reflect current demand for testing. Ipswich Hospital drop-in clinic continues to operate daily while the Gatton Hospital clinic is closed. The Incident Management Team is responsible for ensuring a rapid response team model is in place to respond to any future outbreaks. Check the full list of clinics on the WMH website.

Grand Rounds via Teams – 4 December

West Moreton Health invites GPs to join its MeCare (Mobile Enabled Care) and Hospital in the Home (HITH) teams for a Grand Rounds discussion about the use of virtual care in managing acute and chronic diseases in the community. GPs are encouraged to join the discussion in a Q&A. It will be held via Teams meeting on Friday 4 December, 12.30–1.30pm. Click the link to attend.

Referral information for GPs

The West Moreton Health Central Referral Hub guide will assist GPs who need to refer a patient to the Specialist Outpatient Department. The guide will show you how to refer to the Central Referral Hub and other speciality teams within the health service. This will ensure that your referral is sent to the right place the first time and will prevent referral processing delays. GP Smart Referrals is the preferred referral process, while fax and secure web transfer remain available. There are two fax lines dedicated to referrals – one for urgent referrals and a general fax line for all other non-urgent referrals. ACAT and TCP move to Hayden Centre

The West Moreton Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and Transition Care Program (TCP) have moved to their new premises on Level 3 of the Hayden Centre on South Street, Ipswich. The new phone number for ACAT is 3447 2811, and the new number for TCP is 3447 2810. Please update these in your respective databases. The old phone numbers will be diverted for three months to provide a transition period for staff, partners and consumers. ACAT and TCP were temporarily set up at the Ipswich Health Plaza.

Foodborne illness testing

Australian Food Safety Week (14–21 November) is a timely reminder of the importance of testing to confirm food-borne illness, and of the need to promptly notify our Public Health Unit of food-borne illness outbreaks or any food-borne illness in a food handler. Early intervention helps us to identify potential clusters and laboratory analysis helps identify the source of infection or contamination which may help prevent further cases of illness. If you identify a suspected food-borne illness outbreak (two or more cases of a similar illness after consuming a common food or meal) or clinically diagnose food-borne illness in a food handler, please notify the West Moreton Health Public Health Unit by phoning 3818 4700 or faxing a completed copy of the Notifiable conditions report form to 3818 4701. The Director Medical Services will develop workforce capability plans to support Ipswich Hospital’s transition to tertiary services, and provide advice on matters relating to medical workforce, education and professional management.
