Winter VaxBus boosts community protection

The Winter VaxBus recently completed its tour across the Darling Downs and West Moreton region. Over the four-week trip, the VaxBus visited over 26 locations and delivered 496 vaccinations.

Funded by the Australian Government and delivered by Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN and Oceana Immunisation, the bus delivered COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, and flu vaccines.

The Winter VaxBus breaks down barriers to access for people who may otherwise find it challenging to reach a permanent vaccination provider. Unlike previous vaccination buses, the Winter VaxBus schedule provided flexibility to make multiple stops in each town, rather than one specific meeting point.

The new approach was well-received by the community, who were able to call and advise the bus where Winter VaxBus was most needed.

The PHN is currently working on the next VaxBus which is anticipated to run later in August. Details of any future vaccination buses will be posted on the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN website and Facebook page.
