Education and Support Training and Development Suite

Project Status: Approved for scoping

Ongoing education and support – training and development that addresses the needs as identified in preliminary needs assessment and ongoing needs and gaps analysis.

Target areas identified in preliminary analysis include:

  • Support the adoption of digital health, telehealth and My Health Record in the region.
  • Provide practice support with early diagnosis (spirometry) and access to inhaler and breathing devices.
  • Provide practices support with early diagnosis tools and establishment/ maintenance of CVD disease registers.
  • Support general practice in specific communities to improve their chronic disease management practices, including SIP items.
  • Support stakeholders to improve cultural competency within existing services and develop indigenous specific mental health services.

Promote and support the use of Clinical Audit Tools (CAT4) in general practice, and the extraction, aggregation and analysis of de-identified patient data (PenCAT). This activity will deliver a comprehensive suite of education sessions to general practitioners, practice nurses and allied health professionals in response to identified education and training needs. This training includes mental health skills training, infection control, working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander patients, working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse patients; Doctors Health and Wellbeing; Paediatrics, Wound Care, Chronic Disease Management, Pain Management, Immunisation and other Public Health Unit updates, Managing Medical Emergencies.
