Deadly Sex Networking Update
This Deadly Sex Networking Update will provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and com-munity workers with an update on sexually transmissible infections, HIV & viral hepatitis.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health and community workers play a crucial role in the prevention of blood borne viruses (BBVs) and STIs. This education session will provide up-to-date information on sexual health including transmission, testing, management and prevention of STIs and BBVs. The session will support health workers in Cherbourg to feel confident and comfortable talking about sexual health with clients and community.
• Identify priority populations for STI and BBV testing and explain the importance of testing.
• Explain how STIs, HIV and viral hepatitis are transmitted and identify available options for prevention of BBVs and STIs.
• Recognise the impact of stigma and discrimination in health care settings experienced by people living with BBVs.
• Demonstrate improved confidence in talking about sexual health with clients and colleagues.
