Education on Osteoporosis management for primary care

For practice nurses and practice managers.

Osteoporosis is a common disease in Australia, with 1.2 million people estimated to have osteoporosis and a further 6.3 million with a low bone density.

The aim is for early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis to prevent any initial fracture from occurring.

The event will include:

  • Early diagnosis of osteoporosis to allow prompt bone health management
  • Osteoporosis is common and can result in potentially serious fracturs and costly consequences
  • Effective treatments that are available to reduce the risk of fracture and prevention of first fracture
  • Discontinuing treatment puts patients at increased risk of fracture
  • How to link in with the Bone Bus, DXA scan and relevant MBS items
