About

An educational workshop for general practitioners, general practice nurses, managers and indigenous health workers, aimed at increasing awareness, knowledge and management of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise and identify the at-risk patient groups for ARF and RHD
  • Identify and diagnose ARF and RHD by combining an ‘index of suspicion’ in high risk populations with clinical criteria and appropriate investigations.
  • Explain the treatment options available for the prevention of RHD to at-risk patients
  • Appropriately notify the Queensland RHD Register and Control Program when a new diagnosis of ARF/RHD is made
