Training on understanding and preventing child epxloitation.

Project Paradigm is a national programme of IFYS, committed to building broad community and professional child sexual exploitation (CSE) awareness and understanding so that early warning signs and risks are easy recognised and understood. CSE is a form of sexual abuse where an offender/s use their power (physical, emotional, financial) over a child or young person, or a false identity to sexually or emotionally abuse them. This occurs in online and offline contexts.

We are running Level 2 and Level 3 CSE (child sexual exploitation) awareness training (for frontline professionals) at Ipswich June 4th and 5th at Civic Centre.

Staff will be learning across the two-day workshop;
 Definitions and exploration of processes of control used in CSE.
 Common risk indicators found to be present in cases of CSE.
 Examining stereotypes and the use of language when responding to CSE.
 The impact of sexual exploitation and the needs of young people when considering intervention. 38
 How to risk assess specific cases to enable an informed approach to intervention.
 Discuss challenges and barriers to engaging with young people resistant to change.
 Understand how to better support young people with additional needs.
 Develop an understanding of the potential for victims to become perpetrators, and potential ways to work with them.
 Suggestions and tips for dealing with disclosures of CSE.
 Potential resources and techniques for problem solving.
