Peer Worker

Location: Medicare Mental Health Centre Ipswich
We're looking for a full-time (or part-time) Peer Worker to join our values-led team and deliver short-term, community-based support through the Distress Brief Support (DBS) Service. You'll use your lived experience of mental health challenges, including suicidality, to offer empathetic, person-centred care that helps people reconnect with their communities and move toward recovery.
What you'll do:
• Provide peer support and advocacy over 2–3 weeks
• Guide individuals to navigate local services and build recovery goals
• Use trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practices to reduce stigma
• Strengthen social connections that support wellbeing

Who we're looking for:
You have lived experience and can reflect meaningfully on your journey. Experience in peer work or similar roles is welcomed. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusive, culturally sensitive care—especially for First Nations and priority populations—are highly valued.
