Red Ant Round-up Medical Conference

On Saturday, 1 November 2025, Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN welcomed health professionals from across the South Burnett and beyond to the 2025 Red Ant Round-up Medical Conference. More than 30 GPs, practice managers, practice nurses, specialists, and more came together at Kingaroy Town Hall for a focused day of education and connection.

This year’s program covered various relevant and emerging health topics, including women’s health, voluntary assisted dying, and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in general practice.

Practice Managers and Practice Nurses Meeting

On Thursday, 30 October 2025, the quarterly Practice Managers and Practice Nurses Meeting was held at the Springfield and Toowoomba PHN offices, with an option to join online via Microsoft Teams. The agenda featured updates on MyMedicare Bulk Billing and Better Access, Primary Sense, AIDA Cultural Capability Training, and Refugee Health vaccinations.

Allied Health Professional Development and Networking Breakfast

On Wednesday, 22 October 2025, the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN hosted a professional development and networking breakfast for Allied Health Professionals in our region. The breakfast featured guest speakers: Nick Adams, Jackie O’Connor and Dr Owen Bradfield discussing key topics such as:

  • Chronic conditions management and MyMedicare
  • Digital health innovations
  • Artificial Intelligence.

Over two consecutive weekends, the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN, in collaboration with Darling Downs Health and West Moreton Health, respectively hosted two highly successful GP Symposiums aimed at empowering local general practitioners with up-to-date clinical knowledge and practical insights to enhance patient care in their communities. Australian Digital Health Agency webinars

Health care providers can register for on-demand webinars to learn more about digital health tools and how to use them in practice. There is also free CPD accredited elearning modules on Using My Health Record in General Practice.

Social determinants of health

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN works across the health system to better understand and help address the social determinants of health.

The NSW Government Agency for Clinical Innovation created this short animation which breaks down the key social determinants of health and explains how consideration of these factors can improve patient outcomes.
