Gold for GPs in a Pod at national awards

November 03, 2025

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN were recognised by Communications & Public Relations Australia (CPRA), the leading body for communications and public relations professionals in Australia, at a national awards night in Sydney last week.

The PHN’s primary care podcast, GPs in a Pod, was nominated for Health Campaign – Healthcare Professionals, winning gold for the category.

The annual Golden Target Awards recognise strategic and creative thinking, executional excellence, and high-achieving people, teams and agencies across the nation that have transformed businesses, brands and reputations.

The Health Campaign – Healthcare Professionals recognises campaigns that successfully engage healthcare professionals with evidence-based information, clinical insights and professional resources to enhance patient care and advance medical practice.

The GPs in a Pod team were in attendance at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park to accept the trophy.

Since it’s inception in April 2024, GPs in a Pod has produced 46 episodes, streamed more than 3,200 times in over 60 countries.

Time poor and flooded with information, GPs seek accessible and flexible clinical resources to support learning and professional development. The idea of launching a podcast was sparked as a strategy for reaching busy GPs in the region with a localised resource that could be accessed in the car, on a walk, or while cooking dinner.

It’s become an established resource for GPs across the region, with one practitioner saying, “I really learnt a lot and I've been working in this space for six years now! It should be mandatory listening for everyone working with this community.”

GPs in a Pod episodes are released on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and the PHN’s website.

TALK ABOUT, the PHN’s community engagement campaign, was also a finalist in the Health Campaign – Consumer category, recognised as a consumer-focused campaign that effectively educates, motivates and empowers individuals to make informed health decisions, adopt healthier behaviours or better understand health conditions and treatments.
