Helping families thrive through connection, learning and community
September 03, 2026
Supporting local families through connection, education and community remains at the heart of the Mums n' Bubs Wellbeing Group in Wondai.
Coordinated by Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN, Darling Downs Health, Barambah Physio and local community organisations, the Wellbeing Group provides a welcoming space where new and expectant mothers can build friendships, access health information and connect with services that support healthy early childhood development.
During the year, local Women’s Physiotherapist Julie delivered an informative session on postnatal pelvic floor health, helping mothers understand the role pelvic floor exercises play in recovery after childbirth, bladder and bowel control, and long-term wellbeing.
Parents also explored key infant developmental milestones, gaining practical insights into supporting their babies’ physical, social, emotional and communication development through everyday interactions and play.
Julie said the collaboration between health services and community organisations helps create a holistic support network for families.
"Bringing together health education, child development information and community resources gives parents the confidence and knowledge they need during those important early years," said Julie.
Representatives from the Wondai Library's First 5 Forever program also joined the group to speak with mothers about the importance of reading, singing, talking and playing with children from birth. Their presentation highlighted the free resources and activities available through the local library, encouraging families to become involved in community programs that support early childhood development.
Participants valued the opportunity to learn, share experiences and connect with others, with many describing the group as a source of reassurance, friendship and belonging.
Through strong partnerships between health and community services, the Mums n' Bubs Wellbeing Group continues to play an important role in supporting healthy, connected families across Wondai and the surrounding areas.
