PHN’s record response for TALK ABOUT Women’s Health

September 11, 2025

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN’s community engagement campaign, TALK ABOUT, has had its best reception for a topic yet, with more than 100 responses in the first 24 hours for TALK ABOUT Women’s Health.

For nearly five years, the TALK ABOUT campaign has been asking community members and health professionals about their experiences with health care, collecting important feedback about various topics.

For this topic, the PHN are wanting to understand region-specific insights into what is working well and what could be done better for women who are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, PCOS, endometriosis, and other women's health conditions.

The survey, which is open until Wednesday, 15 October, will provide crucial insights to inform the PHN’s Health Needs Assessment (HNA), which is one of the PHN’s key decision-making process for funding and planning health services in the region.

The online survey will also be supported by Community Led Discussions. These small, informal group discussions in the community enable open and frank conversations about local health needs and contribute to guiding the HNA’s service priorities.

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN’s Acting CEO, Jen Newbould, said the topic would be crucial in identifying health needs and service gaps for women in the region.

“We want to hear from as many women in the region as possible about their experiences with primary care.

It’s important that women in our rural and remote communities aren’t left behind, and that women from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and multicultural communities have access to culturally safe care,” said Ms Newbould.

TALK ABOUT has previously covered the First 2000 Days and Mums, Bubs, and Kids, but the latest focus area is the first time women’s health has been covered exclusively.

By understanding the needs and experiences of women in the community, the PHN can improve health services, make care more accessible, and ensure women feel supported in every aspect of their health journey.

TALK ABOUT Women’s Health is open for feedback via a short, confidential online survey.

This survey is open to anyone providing or receiving women's healthcare in the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN region.
