Frontline Liver Care – Empowering Healthcare Workers

Frontline Liver Care – Empowering Healthcare Workers is a fully catered, one-day, face-to-face course designed specifically for Nurses and other Healthcare Workers working in regional, rural, and remote communities who care for people at risk of or living with liver disease and primary liver cancer.

Developed by expert Nurses, this course provides practical, evidence-based training focused on early detection, clinical management, and navigating local referral pathways.

This course is offered at no cost to participants. Limited needs-based grants are available to help remove barriers to participation (e.g., partial travel support or childcare). Please email danielle@liver.org.au for more information.

Why This Course Matters
Liver disease and liver cancer are a growing and often silent health issue across Australia’s regional, rural and remote areas.

This course empowers participants to:

  • Recognise the risk factors for liver disease earlier
  • Support and educate patients with confidence
  • Connect patients with community services and specialist centres

Who Should Attend
Any nurse or healthcare professional working in or interested in liver health in regional, rural and remote Australia is encouraged to attend.

Participant Learning Outcomes

  • List the main causes of liver disease
  • Identify people at risk of liver disease and strategies for prevention
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of liver disease
  • Discuss the management of liver disease and its complications
  • Identify people at risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer
  • Utilise their skills to monitor and support people with liver disease, liver cirrhosis and liver cancer
  • Outline their local referral pathways and identify where to go for extra advice
