Paediatric Sepsis Series - Family Support & Stories
Please join the Paediatric Sepsis Series - Family Support and Stories, part of a monthly online education series brought to you by the Queensland Paediatric Sepsis Program.
Sepsis is a leading cause of death and disability for children in Queensland.
We know that a child’s diagnosis of sepsis is a life changing event, both for those that survive and those that are bereaved. Parents that we have consulted have described a unique experience of isolation due to their child and family being significantly affected, by an unknown or unfamiliar condition. We want families who have experienced the impacts of a sepsis diagnosis to be well supported, to be able to connect with others with similar experiences, and to have access to information and resources. The recently released Sepsis Clinical Care Standard identifies the need for structured, holistic and coordinated post discharge care for the patient, family, carer, GP and other clinicians.
This webinar will provide an opportunity to learn about the resources and programs available within our Family Support Structure and how you, as clinicians can support families affected by a sepsis diagnosis. One of our consumers will also share their sepsis story and discuss their use of various aspects of our Family Support Structure.
Register now to attend one of only two sessions on offer, Tuesday, 6th September 12:00-1:00 PM and Wednesday, 7th September 2:00-3:00 PM (repeat session), via Microsoft Teams.
