Screening: Just a Farmer

Presented by Boonah Rotary, the movie, Just a Farmer (M), is part of the Suicide Prevention Expo.

Just a Farmer (M) is the finale of this important expo. It is a compelling drama that authentically portrays the impact of suicide on a rural Australian family, shedding light on critical mental health issues in farming communities.

(M) Mature themes, suicide themes, coarse language.

The film tells the story of Alison, who is left to manage an ailing farm and an alcoholic father-in-law after her husband’s sudden death; she navigates the challenges of rural life as best she can. The film explores generational trauma, love, loss, and the undeniable resilience of a farming community in the face of tragedy.

The screening of the film, Just a Farmer (M), will commence at 6.00pm and registration for the movie is essential.

The movie is part of the broader event, Heart of the Rim Wellbeing Expo, that commences at 2.00pm. The event is a free community-focused mental health and wellbeing initiative designed to support residents of the Scenic Rim by improving access to information, services and conversations around positive mental health and the prevention of suicide.

The event is facilitated by the Rotary Club of Boonah in collaboration with key health, government, community and emergency service partners.
