Collaborative learning takes centre stage at Darling Downs GP Symposium

On Saturday, Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN (the PHN), in partnership with Darling Downs Health, successfully hosted the GP Symposium, bringing together healthcare professionals from across the region to deepen clinical knowledge and strengthen the delivery of patient-centred care.

With a strong focus on practical, real-world application, attendees gained valuable insights into local referral pathways, available services, and current developments shaping healthcare delivery across the region.

The PHN welcomed more than 100 delegates to the event at Highfields Cultural Centre, including GPs, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and other healthcare practitioners.

The symposium featured 20 speakers who shared their expertise on a range of important clinical topics, including rheumatology, child development, endocrinology, endometriosis, and more. Their presentations provided guidance on regional referral pathways and navigation strategies, helping clinicians better connect patients with the services they need.

This year’s GP Symposium featured two dedicated streams, one for GPs and one for nurses, allowing attendees the flexibility to move between sessions throughout the day and tailor their learning experience to their areas of interest.

In addition to the educational program, the symposium provided networking opportunities with peers and presenters, as well as the chance to connect GPs with service providers exhibiting to gain a deeper understanding of the services they refer their patients to.

The event highlighted the importance of ongoing professional development, collaboration, and connection across the healthcare sector, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for communities throughout the Darling Downs and West Moreton region.

“The GP symposium was informative, and the speakers were very interesting and knowledgeable. Today was a great opportunity to network and learn,” said one delegate.

“It was great to hear from our local health professionals,” said another delegate.

Participants gave the symposium an overall rating of 9/10, with 80% of learning outcomes achieved, demonstrating the success and positive feedback received from both delegates and exhibitors.
