PHN hosts second annual GP Symposia
September 03, 2026
Across July and August, Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN hosted more than 170 GPs, GP Registrars and Practice Nurses for the 2026 General Practice Symposia in Toowoomba and Ipswich.
In collaboration with Darling Downs Health and West Moreton Health, the annual GP Symposia once again offered free registration to a valuable learning and networking event for the healthcare community across the region.
The CPD-accredited program focused on innovation in primary care, featuring experienced local speakers presenting within their areas of expertise on topics such as smoking and vaping, chronic liver disease, ADHD management in children, and many more.
The event’s exhibition spaces also welcomed more than 38 exhibitors, highlighting cutting-edge medical products, technologies and referral pathways from leading healthcare companies, and providing practical tools and innovations that help clinicians enhance patient care and practice performance.
Feedback received from delegates and exhibitors reflected the success of the symposia, with attendees highlighting the value of the program and the opportunity to connect with their peers. Here’s what we heard:
- 9.40/10 average rating for overall experience
- 95% would recommend to their peers
- Most popular topics: obesity management, ADHD management in children, rheumatology, and endocrinology.
“The symposium is an awesome local event. It is great for networking and to hear from our local health professionals,” said one delegate.
“The symposium was a really useful orientation for me as a GP who moved from overseas,” said another delegate.
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO, Lucille Chalmers, reflected on the success of this year’s symposia.
“We’re really proud that the GP Symposia has become a fixture in the PHN’s education calendar.”
“With a strong focus on real-world application, this is a great opportunity for our region’s practitioners to gain valuable insights into local referral pathways, available services, and build connections to learn about what’s happening on the ground across the region,” said Ms Chalmers.
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN extends sincere thanks to all speakers, exhibitors, and delegates for contributing to the success of the symposia and looks forward to continuing this momentum for future events.
